Injury to Innovation

The Diddi and Bea Story

Our journey began with a simple yet powerful idea: to create underwear that won’t get on your nerves. This seemingly straightforward concept is at the heart of our existence as a company, driving us to redefine comfort for women everywhere.

Our story is rooted in my personal experience and necessity. I never anticipated becoming an entrepreneur. However, after sustaining an injury that required three surgeries, I was left with lingering nerve damage and grappling with a persistent problem: finding comfortable underwear. While pelvic floor therapy provided me with the first pain-free days I had experienced in years, it also opened my eyes to a widespread issue. I discovered that uncomfortable underwear was a problem for many women, exacerbated by various conditions.

Armed with sewing skills imparted by my mother and a professional background in engineering, I set out to address this issue head-on. I dedicated countless hours to my sewing machine, mastering the intricacies of underwear design, deconstructing traditional pieces, and ultimately reimagining them to create a solution. Years of perseverance and dedication have culminated into the patented underwear design that we have today.

Our mission at Diddi and Bea is to make women feel more comfortable in their everyday lives. We are committed to providing underwear that not only meets but exceeds expectations. Ensuring that comfort is never compromised, no matter the condition. We believe that every woman deserves to feel at ease, and with our revolutionary approach to underwear, we are making that a reality.

The Beauty Behind Our Brand

Diddi and Bea were two women whose friendship blossomed by chance, as my grandmother (Diddi) married Bea's brother.

Their lives were quite different. Beatrice took the step of pursuing higher education, a rarity for women of her time, while Diddi, who had immigrated from Norway, raised three sons during the Great Depression. They both navigated the challenges of life together, sharing the heartache of losing one of Diddi's sons when he was just a toddler.

Even after my grandfather's untimely passing, their friendship endured, and Bea remained a cherished presence in our lives until her own death. Together, they traveled and enjoyed each other's company. I hold dear memories of them taking us to the beach, working on puzzles, and playing cards. They were always there to care for us when my parents needed a break from their three lively children.

The two of them introduced me to knitting - a craft that has brought me joy and inspiration throughout my life. Their enduring friendship, their knowledge of knitting, and the comforting memories we shared inspired the name of our brand.
